Goats in Profile - Pete

Here is sweet Pete. Pete, a Boer buck, is the son of Pete. Boer goats are usually bred for meat, but this little Pete is our new buck so he will be sticking around. He is only about a year old and the does hate him. That is probably only a temporary state of affairs, come autumn they will probably find him more ‘interesting’.

Pete came from Yarragon Goats, a beautiful small Boer goat farm in Yarragon South, which is very close to us.

Pete likes lying in the full sun, pushing the does out of the way to steal their concentrates and is quite partial to blackberries. He likes afternoon bush walks and playing follow the leader (Martha) back home. He does not like being left behind by the girls and I think he was a bit of a mama’s boy until quite recently.

He is not so much into pats and other sorts of human attention but that might change too. I do think he likes being called Pete.
